Photo Story

Kenwood Academy is a diverse high school with a plethora of artistic and gifted students. These students use their innovative talents to give life to our school. With everyone being their own person, we can collaborate and share our differences. For those who are not exactly artists, their creative self is displayed through their expression.

This year, the expression of our school and the spirit of the Broncos has been pushed to another level. Many events and opportunities have presented themselves that may not have been available in previous years. I have found that this is due to the ambition and the determination of the students.

The murals directly outside of the school strongly demonstrate the heart and soul of the Kenwood art society. My choice for the lead and clincher photos are representative of the various activities provided to the students attending Kenwood Academy. The lead being the Kenwood Academy marching band as they play a pivotal role during the homecoming season providing music to pump up the school spirit. On the other hand, the final photo a shot of a collection of art pieces which show birds soaring to different destinations.

Throughout the day, students express their self through fashion. My portrait photos display two students, each with a unique style. Jamarcus has a crew neck (sweatshirt) on with a woman carrying her baby which is reminiscent of Mary holding baby Jesus. Asha wears flowers on the opposite sides of her hair as it is still spring but coming closer to summer.

The overall message that I would like to convey is that everyone is a contributor of expression. Whether this expression is through being an artist, an expert in fashion or having school spirit, we do our best as Kenwood students.  By students being driven to do special things for the benefit of the school, the result is a beautiful and expressive environment.
